rainy days

Windy and rainy here... nothing really new for Oregon I suppose... but after a nice summer, I think I tend to forget what the other 9 months are usually like.. =3

Don't get me wrong.. I still love to live here~ the rain isn't my fav, but can't get everything right.

In case anyone is wondering, the soup below is a desert. It's a very typical 'street' type food SE asia I believe. Hubz absolutely loves it. I think it's a 'use what you have' type of dessert, a must is dried longan fruit since I think it gives the soup the main flavor. I added barley, adzuki bean, lotus seed and jelly (not jello, but a firmer asian jelly) in mine.

nothing special

Just as the title says... nothing really special these last few days again. A little 'cloudy' at work these days, everyone's talking about the budget crisis etc... the atmosphere is quite gray.

I didn't dress any of our lunch up, just wasn't up to it today. Even though I got home this evening early for the first time this month. I did make him his fav pan-fried pork. And I did use a cute-ish box for myself =3 But I am still too lazy to take out some left over simmer pumpkin in the fridge to add some color! Oh well, will still be good~

Nutella bread recipe request

Hi,

Someone requested the recipe for the nutella bread some time back. I adapted the recipe from this site..

http://schneiderchen.de/323Coin-Bread.html

Instead of making it into rolls, I roll out the dough, spread nutella, roll it back up and cut into appropriate size pieces. Like you would make cinnamon rolls.

Hope this helps.

time flies

Peanut resting... =)

Wow, time really flies... before I noticed...it's already the end of October! And I said I'd try harder to keep my blog up... =3

The buns are ok.. we went through a meltdown late Sept, almost lost Peanut. Another miracle, she is feeling better again. I hope this last... We're looking forward to another christmas with all the kids... I look forward to hanging up her socks as well this year

soto ayam

Basically chicken soup, Indo style. I seem to be making Indo food more often these days, mainly, as I mentioned I got a few different pre-made spice pastes... and I usually can put in into a pot, and forget about it for an hr or so, giving me time to tend to the bunnies after getting home.

Mine, I thought about skipping this pic, but oh well, it doesn't look good, but taste great.. =3

His. I intented to mold a nice star egg, but today's egg shell was sticking like mad.. and I was frustrated, so the egg is simply just floating as is. The soup is usually served with noodles, I don't want it to get soggy, so it's left aside until he is ready to eat. He doesn't like bean sprouts, so I lef that out. Also, the spicy potatoes were special request... korean style, those types there are usually served as a side dish at restaurants.

Wet chilly evening.... hot chicken soup with rice... not too bad right? ^_^

Even better, left overs for tomorrow!

eggs

I need a non stick pan.... I thought that I could live without one...but I was wrong~

I made an apple tart today, so we get a little sweet treat tomorrow for lunch as well.

Here's the apple tart, very easy to make. I like the pastry crust, very flaky... I used the recipe from Ina Garten, from food network.

rawon

Made him some Rawon... beef simmered in a very dark soup. I did not get to try it while visiting Indonesia, but he said it's good, so it must be close to home taste.. =3

Nope, I didn't make it from scratch, I've learned that Indo food takes long hours to make and requires a LOT of spices... so I usually just use a premade spice paste. Anyhow, the egg is shaped into a bear, but I don't think anyone can tell from the picture.
